Cash Wrap Installation / Zuerner Design

The interior fixtures, wine racks & spirit shelves, are being built off-site.   This weekend we installed the cash wrap – what we used to call the checkout counter.  Monday morning the point of sale system (modern day cash register ) gets installed and the wires feeding through the cabinet carry phone, internet, alarms, and electricity. Take a look.

Floor Finishing, BioShield Aqua Resin

The walls are painted, most of the lights are installed, the cabinetry is being made, and we are finishing the floor.   We are using BioShield Aqua Resin an environmentally friendly product with extremely low volatile organic compounds (VOC). Formulated in Germany, in partnership with their sister company Volvox, Bioshield  is a leader in the growing industry of environmentally friendly paints and finishes.

The Aqua Resin contains stain, a dispersion of polyurethane in water, micro wax, silicone, and silicic acid, has a high abrasion-resistant finish and is formulated for high traffic areas.  We wanted a look that will recall the warmth of an old country store and we think we’ve got it .

The Eastern White Pine flooring soaks up the finish and we’ve found that the best way to apply the product is on hands and knees with a brush.  Tim and Ezra will feel it tomorrow.

Kerianne Garston

While work continues outside – we have finished the three geothermal wells and are installing the last of the Climate-Block panels – we are finalizing the interior design. We are very fortunate to have Kerianne Garston, a Senior in the Interior Design Department at Pratt Institute, working with us as a summer intern.

Check-Out Counter

Kerianne has been working closely with Oyster Works’ Megan Moynihan, meeting with the owners, Jon Maldon and Jane Gross, and sketching the interiors. To the left is a drawing showing what the check-out counter may look like and below is a sketch of the wine room.

These are by no means final drawings and the end result may be quite a bit different.   But you get the idea – It’s going to be beautiful!  CHEERS!!!
